Privacy Policy

As a public nonprofit organization, the Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation (“Susie's Cause") places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate Susie's Cause commitment to the privacy of our website visitors. This policy explains what types of information is collected by the Susie's Cause website www.coloncancerfoundation.org and how this information is used.

What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected

Electronic Communications

Website visitors that register for our newsletter or register for our events voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and e-mail address). This information is stored and used by Constant Contact to provide email services and is covered in their Privacy Statement. We send an electronic newsletter on a regular basis to those who have signed up. The newsletters are sent to your preferred address. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease communications from us. You may do so by clicking the link provided in every newsletter. At various times we send emails to registrants to announce new events or provide useful information. These notices are sent to your preferred address. Credit Card Account Information

Donations

Susie's Cause utilizes secure transaction methods (SSL) provided by Kimbia when collecting credit card information over the Internet. Kimbia provides secure credit card services to Susie's Cause including collecting and processing donations. Information sent to Kimbia is handled under the terms of their Privacy Policy.

Susie's Cause partners with FirstGiving.com to provide event registrations and fundraising. All transactions are linked directly to FirstGiving and data is stored and used by them to provide event services and process fees and donations. FirstGiving handles this information according to their Privacy Policy.

Every donation is acknowledged to the donor to the address the donor provides to Susie’s Cause.  Also, acknowledgements are sent to the family impacted by colon cancer on whose behalf the donation is made.  All emails provided to Susie’s Cause are kept in house and are not shared with any third parties.

Commercial Transactions

Objects purchased from the Susie's Cause are transacted through established reputable online commercial companies e.g. ebay. No information is collected by Susie's Cause and all communication is between the purchaser and the vendor. 

The names and addresses of any person purchasing directly from Susie’s Cause’s headquarters are kept confidential.

Internet Protocol (IP) addresses

Susie's Cause engages Google Analytics to provide statistical metrics to track website page visits using your Internet Protocol (IP) address. Information regarding your computer, your connection to our website (such as your browser type, operating system, and platform) and your user history (including, but not limited to, your session information, page errors and the length of your visits to specific pages within our website) may also be collected. We use this information to help us design and provide the most up to date information that is useful to you the reader. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Cookies

Cookies are small bits of code that are sent to your computer when you logon to a website that allows us to identify you when you return to the site. The Center uses "cookie" messages to automatically help provide better services. They remind us who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you've done and told us before. The "cookie" is placed on your computer and is read when you come back to our website. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you're particularly interested in. It is Susie's Cause policy not to disclose, sell or rent your Personal Information to any individual, business, government entity or outside parties except: (i) to provide products or services you've requested through us; (ii) in response to a validly-issued subpoena, court order, or other legal process; (iii) when necessary to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal action; or (v) where you request Susie's Cause to do so. From time to time, Susie's Cause may use return email addresses to answer the email we receive from you. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose.

How We Protect Information That You Provide By Telephone, Mail, or In Person

Susie’s Cause applies the same precautions in safeguarding all information you submit to us by mail, in person or by telephone.  Reports and donations which include names and addresses, event registrations, purchases, ticket sales and all other personal information are securely maintained at our Baltimore headquarters location.  Personal information is only accessible to authorized personnel.

Children

The Susie’s Cause Website is not intended for children under the age of 13.  In the event, it becomes known that we have collected Personal Information from a child under the age of 13, we will immediately delete it.

Opt-out

You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease communications from us.  You may do so by clicking the link provided in every newsletter or communication.

Privacy Policy Revisions

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time; please review it periodically. We maintain the option to modify this policy at any time by electronic notice posted on our website.
